2012 Hyundai Genesis

I encountered three of the mid-cycle refresh Genesis luxury sedans. Hyundai's current top U.S. model will get a nose job and a tummy tuck at the rear. Read about the shoot in Spied: 2012/13 Hyundai Accent/Verna, 2012 Hyundai Genesis, and Ram 1500 2-Mode Hybrid.

Barry Sonnenfeld's Video Review of the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO

Esquire's Digital Man gets behind the wheel of Ford's full-sized road rocket and comes up with this six minute video.

Barry Sonnenfeld Youtube Video Review of the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO In this socially networked work of Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, and YouTube, I'm always interested in new and innovative ways to use new media. So this video from director Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black, Addams Family, Get Shorty) caught my eye as I navigated AOL (yes I still occasionally access my old AOL account) in checking my E-mails. There's a certain charm I believe in having someone who is so accomplished behind the camera, putting up something that is so intentionally amateurish (note the shaky hand-held shots and the lens flare) on his annual cross-country trip from the Hamptons on Long Island to Telluride in Colorado. More than a traditional video road test, as he's Esquire's in-house tech geek, it was more a six-minute infomercial for Ford's über handy Sync system.

2010 Ford Taurus SHO This isn't the first time that the Esquire and Ford's new Taurus SHO have seemingly jumped into bed together. Those car geeks among you might recall back in June when eyebrows were raised when Esquire picked the Ford Taurus SHO as its inaugural Car of the Year. This was even before the press, even the big buff books like Motor Trend and Car and Driver, were able to able to get behind the wheel. It elicited comment not only from the cynics in the automotive press community, but in the blogs, like this comment from a reader on motortrend.com. "How can you do an article about a car you never have driven? That's like Motor Trend doing one on men's suits but never trying them on and talking strictly about the stitching."

1989 Ford Taurus SHO I really like the new SHO but having owned one of the first generation models, a first generation 1990 model that I loved, I just can't get over just how big the current car is, in much the same way that a current Challenger or Camaro dwarf their present day versions.. Car and Driver, in its September issue pitted the first and second generation Taurus against the current model and drew some very interesting observations.

Getting back to Esquire and the Taurus, is the Sonnenfeld review just a coincidence is there some sort of other motive at work? The cynics among you will probably start flipping through the pages of Esquire to see how many pages of Ford brand advertising is running. Me...I'll just hit replay and watch the video again.
