Loggerhead Turtle Close-up Perhaps you've heard The Starfish Story by Loren Eisley? The short piece tells about a man walking along a beach. He notices a boy picking up small things and gently throwing them into the ocean. He asks him what he is doing and the boy replies, "Throwing starfish back into the sea. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don't throw them back, they'll die."

The man responds, "Don't you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can't make a difference!"

The boy hears him, but bends down again, grabs another starfish, and throws it back into the surf. He smiles at the man and says..."Made a difference for that one."

Drive a new Volvo on the road it was meant to travel; take delivery in Sweden. Volvo offers a fantastic opportunity to save money and enjoy the European vacation of a lifetime.

Volvo SC60 in Valencia, Spain Test drive and chose a new Volvo from your local US dealer, then consider the discount gained by taking possession overseas. Depending on the model, savings run up to 8% of the US MSRP cost. That's almost enough to pay for your vacation.

In addition, Volvo throws in two round-trip tickets on Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), one night's lodging in a first-class hotel in Gothenburg, Sweden, a tour of the factory, a test drive on the private Volvo track and two weeks free auto insurance while in Europe.

Imagine driving your new vehicle over the 5-mile long Oeresund Bridge from Sweden to Denmark, the longest cable spanned bridge in the world. Continue on to Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Bruges or the Autobahn. Think fjords, Viking lore, Swedish meatballs and sauna treatments.

July 20, 2009 will mark the 40th anniversary of Neil Armstrong's first step on the moon. Consider a visit to one of several air and space attractions in Florida to educate and entertain the kids or simply celebrate one of the most memorable events of the 20th century.

Buzz Aldrin on the Steps with Apollo 11 Mission Logo During NASA's early years astronauts trained at Cape Canaveral, Florida perhaps best remembered as Mission Control Center. Later, training facilities moved to Houston, Texas, but the Cape still boasts the official launch site and the Kennedy Space Center.

The Kennedy Center deserves a full-day visit featuring the Shuttle Launch Experience. If you dare, board the ride that simulates the sights, sounds and the sensation of launching into space. While at the complex visit NASA's spaceport facilities, see towering rockets and IMAX space films. Several times a day you have the opportunity to meet and talk, often a question-and-answer session, with an astronaut.

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of our greatest national treasures, and due in part to the fact that no fee is charged to enter, it is one of the most popular national parks.

Smoky Mountains You might think it strange that you can drive right through Great Smoky Mountains National Park, up to the top of ole Smoky. But, indeed touring via automobile is the most popular way to see the park.

There are 384 miles of road to choose from, covering over 800 square miles. Most are paved, and even the gravel roads are maintained for passenger cars. Speeds on most of the park's paved roads average 30 miles per hour.

You see, entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park is free and the road is one of the main reasons. US Highway 441 cuts right through the park.

Geocaching Together on St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands The path closes in, narrowing at each turn. Dampness collects on my skin as I plod through sultry, humid air. Above, huge termite nests hang from bay leaf trees while dozens of hermit crabs claw at the pebbly route. The constant need to scratch and swat at mosquitoes annoys me, yet I wind round and around this seldom-traveled trail on the island of St. John.

"What's your reading?" I yell to my daughter.

She answers: "North 18° 21.038, West 63° 30.078."

"Not too far now, we must reach West 64°," I shout back, hoping I'm right.

We're geocaching, a pirate-like outdoor treasure hunting game pronounced "geo-cashing." Players use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver to locate hidden containers in 222 countries. The hi-tech device grabs a satellite signal and reports precise longitude and latitude coordinates. GPS units, accurate to a 20-foot radius, cost $100 and up.
